Written by Matt TeNgaio
Tuesday, 22 July 2008

Last week I spent four days in Riggins, ID sampling some of the best steep climbing I've ever experienced. Dean and Heather had told me about their experience in Riggins two years ago and how it left them wanting more. They convinced me that it was well worth the time so I had to check it out.

News - A Day at The Fins

First of all I need to just state for the record that I am pretty much a punter these days. Despite always thinking about climbing and wishing I was climbing I never actually go climbing. Sure I hit an occasional bouldering session or participate in ISU's Open Climbing. But 'real' climbing I seem to dodge out on.

It's a common question, "Where's a good place to ...?" Fill in the blank with hike, bike, ski, snowshoe, rock climb, peak bag, etc. Fortunately for those who live in eastern Idaho, there are lots of good answers to that question. Within a few hours of town, you can be in world-class backcountry. This is country that people come from across the continent to vacation in. It's cool living so close.

Here is an old trip report on New England Bouldering's web site. The author, Pete Ward, tells how amazed he is by all the bouldering potential there is at the City of Rocks. I thought you all would be interested in Ward's view as it reminds those of us who live close just what we have.

Protect Climbing Around Idaho's Highest Peaks

Idaho's highest peak, Mount Borah (Borah Peak) crowns the rugged and isolated Lost River Range. This massive limestone mountain sports folded limestone cliffs, dramatic spires, and grand views, all of which contribute to a legendary backcountry-climbing destination that is among the most popular summit climbs in Idaho. Aside from a destination for climbers, the area is also home to antelope and elk, bighorn sheep, and cougar.

News - Site Update

Written by Bruce A. Black
Thursday, 20 March 2008

As you can see SEIClimbing.com has a new look and feel. Also, those of you who are signed up for the site will notice that there is no log-in box. In an effort to try and speed the site up we have moved the site to a new framework.

The photo gallery and forum are the same. However, you will need to log into and sign up for each independently. If you have an existing account you should notice no change other than signing on at the forum or gallery level. From a technology standpoint this may seem like a step back but we think it won't be a big deal. Especially when it will speed things up.

At the bottom you will notice some news feeds from Rock and Ice and Climbing magazines. We want to thank them for syndicating their news so we can keep you SEIClimbing.com users up to date on what is going on in our sport.
