Second Edition of Sweet Spots

NewsNo Comments »

It’s a common question, “Where’s a good place to …?” Fill in the blank with hike, bike, ski, snowshoe, rock climb, peak bag, etc. Fortunately for those who live in eastern Idaho, there are lots of good answers to that question. Within a few hours of town, you can be in world-class backcountry. This is country that people come from across the continent to vacation in. It’s cool living so close.

In this second edition of Sweet Spots, four new climbing areas, (The Fins, Wolverine Canyon, Crank Cave, and Teton Canyon) and a handful of high quality mountain bikes trails have been added to the bounty of trails and crags already documented in the first edition.

We hope that when you buy your mountain bike, a pair of climbing shoes or cross-country skis that you’ll also pick up a copy of this book. You may as well know where all the best places are to play with your new toys. This book is the most up-to-date and accurate guide to rock climbing areas from Pocatello to Driggs to Howe. It includes some of the best mountain bike rides in the area. You’ll find a full winter’s worth of ski trails to explore. If it’s hiking you crave, we’ll turn you on to trails you’ll remember for the rest of your life.

These are some of the sweetest spots for recreating in eastern Idaho and, in some cases, the western states.

Here is an old trip report on New England Bouldering’s web site. The author, Pete Ward, tells how amazed he is by all the bouldering potential there is at the City. I thought you all would be interested in Ward’s view as it reminds those of us who live close just what we have.
